Center faculty members believe that research and training go hand-in-hand. We are actively involved in many different facets of undergraduate and graduate education at Rutgers. As a Biotechnology Center we provide the foundation for modern degrees in biology--from Animal Science to Plant Science to Microbiology to Ecology. We play a major role in the nationally recognized undergraduate Biotechnology Curriculum. Center faculty lecture in every advanced core course in the curriculum and continually devise innovative advanced courses to serve the needs of our students and the New Jersey high-tech workforce. We provide research experiences for motivated undergraduates throughout the school year, and competitive internships for full-time research over the summer.
Training Accomplishments
- More than 80 graduate students and postdoctoral associates work on competitively funded research projects annually
- Roughly 50 undergraduate students working on independent research projects annually, in honors programs and/or for credit or wages

Postdoctoral Opportunities
Opportunties are available for postdoctoral associates to carry out independent research on grant-funded projects in faculty laboratories. About 30 postdocs work at the Biotech Center, gaining valuable experience in managing research projects, writing research proposals and publications, and supervising undergraduate students. They have access to all of the center's state-of-the-art equipment, as well as facilities throughout the university. Please visit the faculty webpages to learn more about their research interests and contact them directly to learn if there are openings.
